The fact that you stopped first makes it hilarious, i think. The thought of it made me laugh out loud.
Pulling up to a stoplight and then seeing a potato when and where you’d expect traffic is way funnier than just seeing a potato unexpectedly.
Gentle nerd freak of the pacific northwest. All nation states are vermin.

If i remember right, ball lightning was confirmed to be real after it appeared on a plane that was full of physicists going to a conference. I think they reported it moving slowly in relation to them.

I don’t get all the moose and ship references, but in my family we call this kind of thing a moose story.
Back when my uncle was like 7, in fairbanks alaska, he came home from school and said he saw a moose. That’s nice, everyone agreed. And he walked right up to it. Oh did you? And punched it right in the nose. No, you didn’t though, did you?
60+ years later he still maintains that happened.

There was a now debunked idea that symbolic thought emerged in europe ~40kya. The explosion of symbolic art we see then is in part because of preservation factors and how well studied europe is.
It’s fairly well established that non-sapiens humans were capable of symbolic thought. No one is surprised that neanderthals made cool art.
