    Multi-tap is what you’re thinking of. T9 was the predictive algorithm, where you only had to hit each key once, so “fluent” could be entered as 358368.

      T9 may have worked fine for english, but as a Swede, I remember it being shit for compound words like:

      “Slussvaktarbostadshembiträde”

      “järnvägstationskiosk”

      “Diskrimineringsombudsman”

      These are obviously obtuse examples, but all are valid swedish words.
